O Lord they say our trail will be long to hurt the Cattle

from Dakota down to Texas, to be sold so that my family

has butter and bread on the table every day.

I know I will be sleepy and cold some nights,

so please watch over me with your angels,

and guide me  safely home to those dear to me

in my heart and soul.
